Dan got an early start to his career. Working in the family construction business, he learned best practices on the construction of foundations, utilites, the building of residential and commercial structures, and public right-of-way from masters of their trades. During high school Dan worked at Pete’s Automotive in Morro Bay, California. After graduation from high school, Dan started his own one person general construction business. Through hard work and tenacity he grew his business into a full-service general building and general engineering company. At the same time, Dan went back to school, earned both a bachelors and master’s degree in accounting, and then continued to and graduated from law school, passed the bar and began his career as a licensed attorney in California and has built bar memberships in several states since then.

Before entering the legal field, Savannah Robertson spent over 15 years helping grow and manage a successful family-owned collision repair business. There, she excelled in all aspects of operations, leadership, and profit optimization, developing a reputation for integrity, innovation, and results-driven decision-making.

Outside the boardroom and courtroom, Savannah Robertson is a seasoned professional rodeo barrel racer and experienced horse trainer, with over 25 years of competitive and training experience. This unique background fosters a rare combination of grit, discipline, and precision that she now applies in her legal practice.

Today, Savannah Robertson practices law in San Luis Obispo, serving clients with dedication, insight, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Craig S. Ainsworth

Craig attended Santa Clara University School of Law from fall 1998 through spring 2001. Following his first year of legal studies, where he received honorable distinction as an American Jurisprudence Award recipient for top achievement in the study of real property law, Craig studied comparative legal theory at Magdalen College, Oxford, England. Following his second year studies, Craig interned with the District Attorney’s Office, San Luis Obispo County.

Throughout law school, Craig also worked and volunteered at his law school’s community law center, gaining experience under supervising attorneys in the practice areas of consumer law, bankruptcy, immigration and workers’ compensation.

Craig graduated from law school in spring 2001, sat for the summer 2001 Bar Exam, and was admitted to the California State Bar in December 2001. Craig immediately returned to San Luis Obispo where he has since practiced principally in the areas of family law, estate planning, trust and probate law, and civil litigation.

James, with over 35 years in real estate as a Title Officer and certified Petroleum Landman, James Caldwell brings deep expertise in property law, title issues, mineral rights, and complex land transactions. Now serving as Office Manager and Research Paralegal at The Law Offices of Daniel J. Knight, he applies his analytical skills and creative problem-solving to support client needs.

Tom, a legal professional with a robust background in construction, human resources and risk management. Originally from Los Angeles County California, relocated to San Luis Obispo County California.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Marketing from San Diego State University, a Juris Doctor from Concord Law School at Purdue University Global, and a Higher Education Teaching Certificate from Harvard University’s Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning.

With nearly 25 years in construction, human resources and risk management, he transitioned to academia and legal work in 2016. Tom consults on construction matters and contributed to rewriting the Preconstruction Risk Assessment and Infection Control Risk Assessment certification exam for Green Advantage.

Tom serves as a paralegal at the law offices of Daniel J. Knight APLC and is studying for the California Bar.

Thomas, with a foundation in engineering design and a strong legal education, Thomas brings a unique skill set to the team. After moving to San Luis Obispo for school, he fell in love with the area and chose to make it his home. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly SLO and earned his Juris Doctor from Syracuse Law School. He is passionate about leveraging his engineering expertise to focus on construction law.

Cassie Fitzgerald is a paralegal with a passion for justice and an eye for detail. Originally from Southeast Georgia, she honed her skills working as an assistant to the District Attorney in her local area. Currently, Cassie is pursuing further education to earn  a degree in Criminal Justice.

Her journey to California is intertwined with her husband’s military career, which brought her to Paso Robles three years ago. Cassie is a devoted mother to her young son, and together they explore new adventures and experiences.

When not at work or spending time with her family, Cassie enjoys cooking southern cuisine and traveling to different states. She has a keen interest in discovering new cultures and exploring the diversity of the United States. With her dedication to her family, her studies, and her love of adventure, Cassie is a dynamic and driven individual who brings her enthusiasm and expertise to every aspect of her life.

Scott Hamblin

Paralegal

Scott Hamblin is a paralegal he earned his J.D. and Master of Legal Studies degrees from San Luis Obispo College of Law in 2021. 

In addition to his legal knowledge, Scott brings with him a professional background consisting of two decades worth of military and corporate leadership positions and experience. Scott is a 10-year disabled Navy veteran.

Following his military services, he held multiple corporate leadership and negotiator roles at Hawaiian Airlines and Zodiac Aerospace. In addition to his legal career, Scott also works for PG&E’s Sourcing department as a lead negotiator for complex contracts and projects for the Diablo

While not originally from California, since 2017, Scott proudly calls the Central Coast his home. Scott lives in the Central Coast with his elegant wife, Jamie and his two bright and beautiful daughters.

When not working, Scott can be found either surfing at Pismo and Shell Beach, spending time with his family at the beach, hiking or playing golf, or having make-believe tea parties with his girls.

Dana worked as a legal assistant and paralegal in an estate planning and probate administration practice for the last 15 years before join the firm. For the last 8 years, she has also worked to develop a successful general contracting firm where she is the business administrator. She has been integral in shepherding its growth from a small family business to a multi-million dollar contracting firm. Dana was born in Saigon, Vietnam one month before the 1975 evacuation of American personnel. She is a lifetime California resident, having lived in San Luis Obispo for the last 25 years. She has one daughter, Alexis, who is the center of her universe. Dana developed early on in her professional career extraordinary administration skills that have served her employers well. She has worked in several attorneys’ offices and insurance agencies, as well as for the Superior Court. 

Darren Thomas

Darren has decades of expertise in the technology field, specifically in corporate communications. He brings with him ample experience to maintain a secure and productive environment at the law firm where support and marketing services are provided to our network of offices.

Darren’s career has included working for fortune 500 companies, including the early days of Apple and Intel, where he started out in corporate communications. He later gained experience working with startups in computer graphics systems used for product introductions for Porsche, Toyota and Honda to name a few. His public relations experience and hands-on computer skills make him a valuable member of our growing team. As a North County community member since 1995, he also works with several local non-profits.
